Design Collective, Inc.’s Kingsley Park Project in Baltimore County has received a 2006 Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo). Baltimore County’s Kingsley Park was recognized for the newly enacted Renaissance Redevelopment Pilot Program which gives communities unprecedented control over development of specific sites.
Design Collective conducted the County’s first-ever charrette, developing the master plan and design guidelines with unanimous support from the community and its stakeholders. The plan will transform Kingsley Park from an area with dilapidated apartment buildings plagued by crime and violence, to an attractive, walkable community geared towards fostering a sense of community connectedness.
“We are honored to have been a part of this project that has afforded Baltimore County such high recognition for this unique legislation that will enable neighborhood revitalization,” said Matt D’Amico, principal at Design Collective, Inc.
NACo was created in 1935 when county officials wanted to have a strong voice in the nation’s capital. More than six decades later, NACo continues to ensure that the nation’s 3066 counties are heard and understood in the White House and the halls of Congress. The Achievement Award is a non-competitive program that recognizes counties for creative and innovative program development and implementation, efficient administrative management of county agencies and responsible government to local citizens.
