The developer behind a proposal for a 300-foot-tall apartment building in White Flint unveiled new renderings of the project this week.
Bethesda-based Saul Centers, which is planning five buildings along two Rockville Pike strip shopping centers, presented detailed plans for the first of the five buildings Monday at a meeting of Montgomery County’s White Flint Implementation Advisory Committee.
The Friends of White Flint, a nonprofit focused on the development of the area, reported on the meeting on its website.
The first building, being called Building A, will be at 1001 Rockville Pike—the corner of Rockville Pike and Marinelli Road now occupied by a McDonald’s. The site is across the street from an entrance to the White Flint Metro station.
Brian Downie, senior vice president for construction at Saul Centers, told Bethesda Beat last month the developer will take a phased approach to the construction of all five buildings that could take years.
Building A will reach 300 feet and include 330 apartments with 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail.
The presentation shown Monday shows outdoor dining separated from a wide sidewalk and bicycle path by a rectangular fountain.
