Phase VIII of the Fraternity/ Sorority Renovation Program involved the major renovation of two sorority houses at the University of Maryland College Park. Now complete, the $8.6 million renovations led by Design Collective have successfully achieved LEED Silver Certification under the USGBC’s NC v2.2. scoring criteria. New energy efficient systems include an improved thermal envelope, high efficiency glazing, reduced interior lighting power density and occupancy sensors. The project also reduced potable water use by 30% through the installation of dual-flush water closets, low-flow showers and kitchen sinks, and ultra low-flow lavatories.
