180s quickly outgrew its existing converted warehouse space, as one of the nation’s fastest growing privately held companies. Design Collective was hired to provide programming services and planning expertise during the real estate search and to design their new workplace.

180s decided on a vacant exposition hall in an iconic building on Baltimore’s Inner Harbor. The facility’s open environment represented 180s’ culture and vision for innovation. Taking advantage of the soaring height of the existing space and emphasizing the outdoor nature of the company’s product line, a series of tree-house like structures were developed to accommodate meetings, brainstorming sessions and presentations. The 50,000 SF corporate headquarters included space for its research and development division and a café where employees and visitors could enjoy the sunlight and water views. The work environment was designed to encourage interaction and the sharing of innovative ideas, in support of the firm’s mission to push beyond the status quo.
