A two-phased, six-story, 100,000 SF building nestled between the existing hospital and the medical arts building
The program called for a two-phased, six-story, 100,000 SF building nestled between the existing hospital and the medical arts building. Phase I was an $8.6 million, 50,000 SF Ambulatory Surgery Center complete with admitting offices, sterile suite, recovery, radiology, and a surgical suite adjacent to the existing hospital surgery and post anesthesia care unit. The Surgical Suite, which contains six operating rooms and one cystoscopic room, adjoins the existing building’s surgical wing (below grade) and curves around the sterile hub, which provides full circulation to the operating room suite.
Phase I was planned with infrastructure for Phase II - a four-story, 50,000 SF vertical expansion that would accommodate floors 3 - 6. The additional area contains a cardiac center, birthing center and medical offices. The vertical circulation patterns were designed for the extension of the elevator, to manage waste and material flows, and to meet future egress and staffing patterns. Utility chases and equipment locations respond to future requirements.
